Thank you for your letter

of the 6th February, enclosing a copy

of a letter you have received from a

correspondent in Hong Kong on the

subject of the Chinese soldiers

interned in the Colony.

I may say that this matter is

one which has caused the Colonial

FURTHER ACTION.

authorities some anxiety. As you know,

practically since the outbreak of

Sino-Japanese hostilities Hong Kong

has been swamped by large numbers of

refugees from Shanghai and elsewhere.

When the Japanese launched their

attack on South China in October

November last year masses of Chinese

refugees
